In 2018/19 I worked with Professor Jane Setter (Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics) and Katy Green (School of Literature and Languages) on a project called ‘A Thousand Words: Student Life Through a Lens’, funded by the UoR Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives Fund. This project won the 2019/20 RUSU (Reading University Students’ Union) Excellence Award for Technology Enhanced Learning.
‘Student Life Through a Lens’ investigated the experiences of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) students of literature and languages at the University of Reading. Project participants were tasked with taking photographs that reflect their experiences of student life at UoR. The resulting images and accompanying commentaries were displayed in the University Library in June-July 2019, and are now permanently mounted on the ground floor of the Edith Morley building on Whiteknights Campus.
